Brown Cup is rowed annually each spring, and was modeled after the historic Oxford / Cambridge Boat Race where two eight oared shells race head to head over the winding Thames River. The UBC / UVic Boat Race started in 1993 and the location alternates from the Middle Arm of the Fraser in Richmond to the Gorge Waterway in Victoria every year.
