ANSWERS TO OUR TOP 10 QUESTIONS:
1. How many people can I have at the boathouse?
The boathouse has a maximum capacity of 192 people STANDING.
Within this number you must account for any service staff that will be associated with your event.
You can SEAT 155 people comfortably for your event. This number includes 8-10 people for a head table in the event that you are booking for a wedding.
2. Is my date of choice available available?
Please check the calendar online. If the date that you are wanting is still available, please call the boathouse to make sure that a temporary hold has not been placed on that date. Someone who has placed a temporary hold on a date will be given 24 hours notice to place a rental deposit down or the date will be given away.
3. Do we have access to the outdoor decks?
The North Float deck is available but not the South Float deck.
4. Can we go on the lower docks?
Yes but at your own risk, please be aware of the river currents. No glass products of any sort is permitted on the docks as this is an athlete area.
5. Can we have a wedding ceremony or function ceremony down on the water docks?
Yes, however please keep in mind that we can experience high winds on the water and that the weather is never guaranteed. It is recommended that a plan B be in place.This dock space is NOT exclusive to your rental. The space is shared with the athletes.
6. Where can we park?
The closest parking is on the ample shoulders along River Road behind the boathouse. We also share a parking lot with the Navy League 100m north of the Boathouse. DO NOT park in the adjacent business parking lots as you will be towed! If you are having a catered event, your caterer may drive up the gravel pathway for active unloading and loading of their products. They MUST then move their vehicles to the street parking.
7. Can you smoke in the boathouse or on the decks and dock?
No. The Boathouse is a smoke free facility. Smoking is permitted on the dyke trail.
8. Is UBC Boathouse wheelchair accessible?
Yes. You may drive your vehicle up the gravel pathway to the North ramp for active unloading and loading of these persons. Our docks are also wheelchair accessible from the South ramp or through an elevator located inside the boathouse. (beside the reception area)
9. How do we transport DJ or musical equipment into the building?
If musical instruments or DJ equipment needs to be brought into the Boathouse, the same policy (as wheelchair accessibility) will apply.
10. Do we have exclusive use of the entire facility during our rental booking?
Your event will have exclusive access to the event hall and deck, but the common areas of the water dock space and washrooms might be shared by the rowers during daylight hours.

Can we decorate the event hall?
Yes. However, you are not permitted to make holes or attach anything to the surfaces of the walls or wood that could leave a mark.
